At this time every year, we reach out to our community for support. While our tireless volunteers and staff dedicate hundreds of hours to fundraising activities each year, and you can count on our presence at every Duncan Farmer’s Market from April through October, we still need supporters like you to help us balance the books.
Your dollars help us teach employability skills in the Small Engine Repair Shop, draw out that creative side in the Art Studio and encourage the skills of knitting, weaving and spinning in the Textiles program. We use horticultural therapy to teach participants how to grow and they then reap the benefits of that knowledge by using Farm produce to learn culinary skills and healthy eating habits in the Kitchen Program. In St. Ann’s Garden Club, seniors who might otherwise be isolated are provided with a safe and welcoming environment to work together and socialize.
And while the Farm offers a variety of programs and training, it represents something greater which may be best captured on the whiteboard in our kitchen “be yourself, everyone else is taken”. We meet people where they stand and we help them to move forward. We provide a quality of life. A sense of prupose. A place to belong. A community.
If you are able, please think of us this year with your donation. Every bit helps us … help others.
With gratitude and warm regards,
Congratulations to Murray Logan, owner of Ye Old Dogwood Lumber on Cowichan Lake Road who was the winner of our draw and won a two night family stay at the lovely Affinity Guesthouse (Valued at $1500!). Affinity Guesthouse Website
